Day 1: Athens - Zanzibar, tour of Stone Town
Early morning flight to the tropical paradise of Zanzibar, via a stopover. JAMBO - CARIBOU! Arrival at Stone Town (or Stone City) airport. Transfer to our hotel and settle into rooms. This is followed by a guided tour of Stone Town with its rich history, buildings of different architectural and cultural influences, cobbled streets and carved balconies. On the tour you will visit the Cathedral, the slave market, the Sultan's Palace, the old Arab fortress, the fruit and vegetable market, the Forodani Park and walk through the narrow streets famous for their ornate carved wooden doors, part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the afternoon return to the hotel and free time to visit the city's open-air market.
Day 2: Zanzibar, Stone Town
Breakfast and free day to enjoy the town and bargain in its bustling market. We recommend you enjoy some of the excellent daily optional activities, including:
- Visit a spice garden to learn more about the magical world of herbs
- Experience the infamous Prison Island, formerly used as a quarantine island and slave prison. Today it is a tourist destination with an excellent beach where you can see the giant Aldabra turtles
- Discover the magnificent beaches and underwater seabed of Nakupenda Island
- Enjoy the Safari Blue water adventure to discover some of the best shores of Menai Bay and Kwale Island
Day 3: Zanzibar - Tanzania National Park
Breakfast. Pick up from the hotel at noon and transfer to the airport for the flight to the National Park. Arrival and meet our local ranger. In specially designed 4x4 jeeps, set off for an unforgettable wildlife safari in the African savannah. Elephants, lions, giraffes, wildebeest, buffaloes, gazelles, antelopes, baboons await you in their natural habitat, amidst majestic bush tracks and baobab trees. The safari ends with a magnificent bush sundowner, specially designed for you to enjoy sunset in African nature. Transfer and dinner at the Safari Lodge.
Day 4: Tanzania National Park - Zanzibar
Wake up before dawn, as a morning safari follows in the footsteps of Africa's great predators. The tracking of the animals in the darkness followed by the unique experience of the sunrise will be unforgettable. Return to the hotel for breakfast and then enjoy a river safari to see hippos, crocodiles and a large population of birdlife. Lunch at the hotel and last moments of relaxation at the lodge facilities on the shores of the Indian Ocean before transferring to the airstrip for your flight back to Zanzibar. Arrival and road transfer to your hotel on the beach.
Day 5: Zanzibar (free day, optional excursion to Mnemba Atoll)
Breakfast and free day to enjoy your hotel facilities and the beaches of Zanzibar. For snorkeling and underwater diving enthusiasts, the island offers over 30 points of interest where you can enjoy magnificent corals and unique fauna such as stingrays, turtles and whale sharks. The top underwater observation point is the Mnemba Atoll, north-east of Zanzibar. Choose the optional excursion to be captivated by the exotic beauty of the island.
Day 6: Zanzibar (free day, optional excursion to Jozani National Park)
Breakfast and free day. For kitesurfing enthusiasts, the eastern coast of the island (Paje, Jambiani) is a real paradise. Alternatively, we suggest you visit Jozani National Park, famous for its endemic species of colobus monkeys. You will admire impressive trees and plants, and discover the magical world of the island's long-lived vegetation by crossing the wooden path.
Day 7: Zanzibar (free day, optional visit to Kendwa & Nungwi beaches).
Breakfast and free day. Today we suggest you visit the beautiful beaches of Kendwa and Nungwi, on the northwestern side of the island, where you can discover excellent entertainment, dining with local and seafood delicacies and water activities. Here you will probably admire the best sunset of your trip.
Day 8-9: Zanzibar - Athens.
Breakfast and a free day for a final dip in the Indian Ocean and some last minute shopping. In the early afternoon you will be transferred to the island's airport to board your return flight via a stopover. Arrive in Athens at dawn on the 9th day.
