Eretria, Euboea Greece

Eretria was a city of Ancient Greece, located on the western coast of the island of Euboea, facing the coast of Attica on the other side of the narrow Gulf of Euboea. The modern city of Eretria, which had been abandoned in antiquity, was refounded in 1824, after the Greek war of independence, with settlers from Psara. Today it is a popular vacation spot by the sea.
